December 27th - We had a very cold but successful day at Weston-super-mare Open show
where Albie was Best of Breed and Nell was Best Puppy & Reserve Best of Breed.
December 12 - A happy day out at the Ladies Kennel Association champ show with Maggie
Bursey, Caz Turner & her son Ryan. We ended our day with a celebration KFC - and
Albie won Post Grad bitch!
November 9th - A very successful Minehead show where Albie was Best of Breed and
3rd in the Hound Group and Nell was Best Puppy & 2nd in the Puppy Hound Group
October 24th Midland Counties Championship Show. Nell won minor puppy bitch and
qualified for Crufts at her first attempt.
October 5th Dorcas whelped 7 lovely puppies to Romulus. This is his second litter,.
They are all tricolour
September 27th Western Counties Cat Show. Our young boy, Barrenger Hamlet (commonly
known as Omlette!) won his first CC & Best of Breed.
September 25th We nipped up to Scotland for a couple of days to see Malcolm & Billy’s
first litter of puppies sired by Romulus - his first litter as well! They are lovely
September 21st West Country Dog Club held their show at a new venue, The Hand Equestrian
Centre. Lots of room here. Albie was Best of Breed and was 3rd in the Hound Group.
Our new puppy,Nell, was Best Puppy and also 3rd in the Puppy Hound Group.
September 14th Westbury Canine Society Show. This was held in an Equestrian Centre
but it was a bit gloomy and rather cramped. Duncan won Best of Breed and 3rd in the
September 7th South West Hound Club. It was an early start for us as we are on the
committee and the new venue was near Bristol. A good find as it was dry and quite
spacious with good facilities.
September 6th Richmond Championship Show. Duncan won Limit Dog and was awarded Reserve
Best Dog. Albie was 2nd in Post Grad bitch.
August 31st South Eastern Hound Club. Well we returned to where Duncan won Best
in Show last year and Margaret had polished the huge trophy till it shone. The weather
was appalling. We had low cloud and rain all the way and we arrived to find the judging
taking place indoors. Luckily it cleared slightly to allow our judge, Tony Fryer,
to judge outside. Duncan and Albie both won their classes and Duncan won his 2nd
Best of Breed at this show. Thanks! No luck this time in the big ring but we treated
ourselves to a KFC on the way home!
August 15th Welsh Kennel Club today - and it was a dry & sunny one! DUNCAN WON HIS
FIRST CC TODAY under breed specialist Sue Pocock (Fromebank). He showed so well and
really enjoyed himself. This is a lucky show for us as Dudley won 1 CC here, Gullie
2 CC’s and Duncan’s brother from an earlier litter won a res CC.
August 2nd. Houndshow Day. Duncan compensated for his 2nd in the breed class by
taking 2nd place in the prestigious Open stakes, beating a few champions along the
way. The class was won by Serena’s lovely Beagle boy - Ch Serenaker Devil in Disguise.
Albie won her Yearling class.. The parade of pack hounds was as good as ever.
July 30th - It was a lovely warm day for the Dunster show with a light wind blowing.
We were not being judged until after lunch so we wondered around and shared our venison
hotdogs with Duncan & Albie. They did us proud by winning both their classes and
this time Albie took BOB. She then showed her socks off to get 2nd in the group!
July 22nd Pauline & Ted rang to tell us that they had had to say goodbye to Gullie.
He had been suffering from a suspected brain tumour and his quality of life was quite
poor. Goodbye old chap - many thanks for all the wonderful times you gave everyone
with your great personality & showmanship. You leave a great hole in the lives of
Pauline & Ted
July 15th - Margaret judged her first Championship Show at Peterborough. She enjoyed
herself and made her BOB Ch Bromwylva Mint Imperial of Dereheath - and that (as Pauline
Conner tells us) gave him the same number of CC’s as Ch Barrenger Gulliver Travels!
July 5th - We took Gracie (Barrenger Amazing Grace) to the Wiltshire & District Cat
show where she won her 3rd CC & Best of Breed - this makes Gracie our 4th Silver
Spotted Champion British Shorthair. Judge Mrs Joyce Higgins
July 3rd - Barrenger Beswick was Best of Breed at the South Wales Show judge Nick
June 11th - A very special day for us as we picked up our new lad, Bellecombe Romulus
from Heathrow. All went smoothly and we were very impressed by the facilities provided
by the Animal Reception Centre for owners, as it can be a long wait for your pet
to be released. Many thanks to Grace Servais for letting Rommy live with us and the
caring staff at the Reception Centre.
June 1st - Somerset Cat Club - Myrtle won her first CC & Best of Breed & our new
boy kitten, Hamlet was declared Best in Show British Shorthair Kitten - Many thanks
to judges Mrs Sue Lorton-Hobbs & Mrs Ann Ivinson
May 31st - Southern Counties - Albie won the Post Graduate bitch class under
Mrs Jill Peak
May 26th - Bath Champ Show - Both Duncan and Albie won their Post Graduate classes.
Under Brian Pocock. It was nice to see Brian back judging the Bassets.
May 16th. Scottish Kennel Club - Duncan was placed 2nd in Post Grad Dog and Albie
won Post grad bitch under Mrs Vinnie Ness. We had a lovely weekend away staying with
Malcom & Billy at the bungalow deep in the Dimfrieshire countryside.
April 5th - Kernow Cat Show - We spent a lovely sunny day in Paignton and it
was made even better when Barrenger Amazing Grace won her 2nd CC & Best of Breed
- many thanks to Judge Sue Lorton-Hobbs.
March 29th - Bridgwater DCS - We haven’t shown here for a while as it has been run
in conjunction with South West Hound, where we are on the committee. Albie was beaten
into 2nd place today by her her pretty half-sister - Caz Turner’s Devonhound Monnlight
Mistletoe of Zeal. Duncan gained BOB and then came 2nd in the Hound Group! This
was just what we wanted as it gave him the points for his Show Certificate of Merit.
Well done Duncan!!
February - Crufts - Very fast judging! Albie & Cream were placed and we had a great
day catching up with friends old and new

January 12 - Our Brtish Shorthair Silver Spotted girl - Barrenger Amazing Grace
(Gracie) went to her first show and was awarded her first CC & BOB. Thanks to the
judges who thought so highly of her
